BMW 3-Series ‘shadow’ edition at Rs 41.40 lakh
City:

German luxury car maker BMW, the second largest in the country, on Wednesday launched a special edition of the 3-Series, called the 'Shadow Edition' to boost sales in Asia’s third biggest economy.

It is a limited-run offering available in both petrol and diesel option. The sedan is priced at Rs 41.40 lakh for the 320d Sport trim and Rs 47.30 lakh for the 330i M Sport trim at pan India showroom.

This makes the petrol Shadow Edition about Rs 2.2 lakh more expensive than the standard 330i M Sport.

The two new variants locally-produced at BMW Group factory at Chennai underline the dynamic driving experience and modern appeal of the new BMW 3 Series.

Interestingly, in keeping with the name and in a bid to inject some glamour, the Shadow Edition's head and tail-lights get a smoked or ‘shadow’ effect. It also sports a high-gloss black finish on its kidney grille and black chrome exhaust tips.

The interior too gets an upgrade in the form of new red and black upholstery and a new 10.5-inch instrument cluster along with M-Sport leather steering wheel and M-Sport door sills.

Also, the Shadow edition models get newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels with different designs for petrol and diesel variants.

Other features such as the infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, reverse parking camera, six airbags, electronic stability control remain standard fitment on the shadow edition models.

There are no changes to the engines or the performance of the car.

The petrol 330i M-Sport gets the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine making 252 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. It sprints from 0-100 kmph within 5.8 seconds.

The 320d diesel model gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine too but makes 190 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque. Its 0-100 kmph run time is 7.2 seconds.

Both models get an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

“The BMW 3 Series is an embodiment of the impeccable sports sedan – the epitome of sportiness for six generations,” Vikram Pawah, president at BMW Group India, said. And now, it gets an extra dose of driving pleasure with the Shadow Editions, he pointed out.

“These special editions combine the sporty yet elegant design with high everyday functionality. Making the BMW 3 Series even more attractive with confident style and exclusivity, the Shadow Editions are here to induce more excitement in the segment,” Pawah added.
