Dilip Kumar, as we know him, is among the great actors of Bollywood. But this may be an unknown fact that Dilip Kumar was offered a lead role in the international project Lawrence of Arabia (1962) by director Sir David Lean, a British film director, producer, screenwriter and editor, responsible for large-scale epics such as The Bridge on the River Kwai and Doctor Zhivago. However, for reasons unknown, the actor declined the offer. The role subsequently went to Egyptian actor Omar Sharif. The film was nominated for 10 Oscars at the 35th Academy Awards in 1963; it won seven in total
