Lladró eyes India for limited editions
City:

Lladró, the globally leading Spanish brand known for its high quality porcelain products, is betting big on ‘limited edition products’ for the Indian market. And that’s not without a reason.

“Limited Edition products have always done very well in India. Our collectors take pride in possessing them. Sharing two successful examples on Limited Edition Lord Ganesha would justify why we are betting big on this particular segment. The first limited edition of 2000 units of Lord Ganesha got  launched in 2001 and got sold out worldwide in 2002. Next the High Porcelain Lord Ganesha, a limited edition of 499 units  got launched in 2010 and got sold out in 2010 itself,” said Nikhil Lamba, chief executive officer (CEO), Spa Lifestyle Private Limited.

Interestingly, Lladró entered into India in 2000 and subsequently forged a joint venture with SPA Agencies India to establish Spa Lifestyle Pvt Ltd in 2006. The brand, over the years, has established a strong footing in the domestic market. At present, it has 8 boutiques in India and is present in all the metropolitan cities.

Lladró's most famous creations are its porcelains with soft coloring and smooth finish that have fascinated millions of people around the world.

“Lladro falls under home décor and gifting category. We do handmade porcelain sculptures, decorative lighting that includes chandeliers, table lamps, wall & hanging lamps. We also do vases and mirrors with porcelain frames. Our entry range comprises of home fragrances – scented candles and perfume diffusers, votive lights, decorative porcelain plates and table clocks that do well for corporate gifting,” said Lamba.

Lamba said that product ideas are mostly generated by creative committee, sculptors and also given by different markets across the world. “We have 15 Master Sculptors in Lladró.  Yes there are sculptors, decoration artists that specialise in various projects depending on their complexities. And normally Lladró comes out with 7 to 10 Limited Edition Sculptures every year,” he said.

While company boutiques are already in place, the company is now working on an online store that will start by October this year, Lamba said.
